The addition of Douglas Ry Wagner reinforces AlgaEnergy’s current and future positioning of its businesses at an international level.

Having consolidated its success in agriculture at the domestic level, AlgaEnergy is currently immersed in the development and implementation of its ambitious internationalization plans. The biotech company will focus on its global expansion to relevant agricultural markets in which there is a growing need for innovation and efficient solutions to increase crop yields and quality. In these markets, AlgaEnergy will leverage its privileged position as a world reference when it comes to microalgae applied to agriculture by introducing its innovative range of highly effective agricultural microalgae-based products. In this context, Douglas Ry Wagner has joined AlgaEnergy’s executive leadership as President of International Agribusiness.

AlgaEnergy has developed an internationalization plan with the initial focus to globally expand AlgaEnergy’s footprint related to microalgae-based agricultural applications.  This ambitious plan, named ‘Project Victoria’, was recently approved by AlgaEnergy’s Board of Directors with a significant initial budget to support the multigenerational plan, whose first phase will be based on introducing AlgaEnergy’s solutions in approximately a dozen countries across 4 continents.

Wagner brings over 30 years of experience in the international agricultural sector. He received his B.Sc. in Botany and Plant Pathology from the Michigan State University, and carried out his Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Washington. He was Professor in the Institute of Molecular Biology at the University of Oregon, is author of over 30 research publications, holds over 35 issued patents and has over 60 patents applications currently under prosecution. He has held executive roles in leading companies such as Dow AgroSciences (as Global New Ventures and Technology Leader, 2009 to 2014) and Agrinos AS (as Chief Executive Officer, 2014 to 2018).
